Panda-crocodiles to show today

Kamolwan Punyasuth

Germany: Bach and Goethe, the first baby crossbreeds between panda and crocodile, will be officially shown at Hamburg zoo today.

Proudly announced the world first time success in genetic combination between a land animal and a reptile last month, Mr. Till Lindeman, the Hamburg zoo director, said that his zoo is now ready to show off the new creatures to the public.

“It’s been awhile that we waited the babies to get familiar with new place, and now we think that this is the right time to meet more people” said Lindeman, smiling.

When asked about how much Hamburg spent with the two little hybrids, he frankly said to us that the zoo had to spend almost 2 billion Euros to make the crossing project of a panda and a crocodile came true.

“You may think that we’re gone crazy” he laughed. “Actually, our zoo had never spent a billion of money for any kind of animals or experiments like this before, but don’t you think that 2 billion was absolutely worth to buy these god roles? …Our zoo is now the legend” nicely added the director.

Ling Ling, the leader of the zoo scientists who has been in responsibilities with this panda-crocodile project, told that the project makes high- reputations to the zoo and her crews.

“We now get contacted to do the hybridizing from many many zoos. They try to contact us in every way. Some said they will pay us twice times, if we redo this for them.”

She added “Actually, my crew and I haven’t finished our job yet. We still have to keep our eyes on Goethe and Bach, this is because the babies were born in artificially way. I mean the scientific combination in DNA and genetic mutations. So we have to make sure that they will not have unusual or harmful behavior beyond our expectations in the future”

After the newborn specie news has been released on the television, there were many polls indicate that people, especially children, in Germany tend to choose the Hamburg Zoo for the first place to visit on their holidays, however.
